Becoming A Shaklee 180 Blogger

I've quite possibly never been more scared to post a blog post on my blog before than this one. But when it comes to weight loss, it is down right scary and extremely personal.

Last year, I followed a blogger who shared her weight loss journey with Shaklee. When she ended the 6 month program and posted about Shaklee looking for a new set of bloggers to apply for the Shaklee 180 program, I decided to go for it. I've been aware of Shaklee for years and knew that they are a company who promote more natural products. After checking to make sure they are gluten and dairy free, I decided to go ahead and apply. I fully expected not to be picked, so imagine my surprise in February when I got an email saying that I was one of the 90 bloggers (out of around 500 who applied) chosen to take this journey in the Shaklee 180 program. If you want to follow the journeys of the other bloggers, check them out here.

I feel blessed, excited, nervous, and scared, all rolled into one to do this journey. If you remember, weight loss has not exactly been successful for me since shortly after we adopted Xiomara. I'm very worried this will be the same. However, I'm also working on my mind at the same time while I work on my body. I'm trying very hard to accept that the number on the scale is just that: a number. It does not necessarily reflect my health, especially if I am exercising and eating a healthy diet.

Speaking of exercising, even though the Shaklee program focuses on what you eat, I am working hard on exercising. I don't take this program lightly. I want to be successful. I have been exercising 6 out of 7 days a week since November (missing only and few days here and there) and I will continue on throughout this whole program and beyond.

At this point, I am not comfortable sharing my starting stats, but I will share a before picture (it's not the best as it's dark, but it will do for now). Again, this is personal for me and so instead I ask that you all encourage me, cheer me on, share inspiring weight loss ideas, or even share with me your favorite health snack or exercise!

I look forward to sharing with you as you journey along with me these next 6 months of my life!

This is a sponsored post as part of the Shaklee Corporation blogger program. I have received free products, online support and incentives for participating. My opinions are my own.

People following the weight-loss portion of the Shaklee 180™ Program can expect to lose 1-2 pounds per week.

  1. You are so pretty! I know you're going to do great with your new eating plan. Also I'm really impressed at your exercise success. I really need to do that. Maybe I should post on my blog about that to help light a fire under me.

  2. Woohoo! I'm proud of you Vanessa! You will do great! I also started a healthier life style. Steven and I started WW on Jan.21 and started hitting the Y hard 4-5 days a week. I'm down 12 lbs and Steven about 17. It's been really awesome. Seeing results REALLY makes it worth it for me. I've been following some bloggers and IG people and the biggest thing I hear is, "don't focus on the scale, but instead take measurements and use those as a comparison as well as before and after pictures. Celebrate your goals when reached, don't be so hard on yourself and that cheat days are so important. When I started having a cheat meal(Friday night date nights) I started losing more weight, weird I thought but it's so important for your body. I'm focusing more on toning than weight loss and I also set a goal that was reachable, June 1. I am thankful for people in my life who are on the same journey, it makes it easier. Inbox me on FB if you ever want to workout together or chat about anything! Blessings to you my friend! You CAN do this!

    1. Way to go Salena! Proud of you too, especially knowing how much you don't care for exercise, right?!? Or is that just running? Also, thank you for the encouragement! I really needed to hear that!

  3. Running...not so much. Exercising I use to dislike too, BUT...seeing the results and how it makes me feel I am actually starting to love it. My ID(inner dialogue) no longer cusses the entire time I'm working out but instead encourages me and tells me how proud she is of me. That really makes a huge difference!
My oldest has begged me to run a 5k for years with him but I always tell him I CAN'T! My goal is to run one of those bad boys WITH him. I *CAN* do it. :)

  4. How often will you update on us your progress? I seriously think about you everyday and say a quick prayer that you are staying focused and are loving what you're doing with this.

    1. I have another post coming tomorrow, but it is a video post sharing how I make the shakes. I'll be honest..so far I haven't lost anything (well actually I think one pound)! A bit depressing! But I also haven't checked inches yet. I'm in contact with a nutritionist from the Shaklee program to make sure I am eating the right amount of calories as that is one of my biggest concerns with it (worried I'm either eating too much or too little). I'll be working with her and hope to see some progress with that!

Thanks Salena for checking in!! Keep praying!! :)

  5. I didn't lose a whole at first with WW either. It's important, at least with WW to eat every point they give you. Eating too liitle will put your body into starvation mode and eating too much, well that's what got me to where I was, LOL.
Don't be discouraged. It will happen, I know it!
    Praying every day!
